But otherwise, the trip was amazing.
A trip around Manhattan and the MET later?
Not to mention Magnolia Bakery is the best.

I've been feeling quite wishy-washy with blogging lately.

I haven't quite found my "voice" and I keep changing my style.
I don't even know how to quite label my blog per say.
Life is absolutely crazy right now
And I'm going on about five-six hours of a sleep a night =(
But the new year's on the horizon,
And I think it's time I change things around a little.
I'm thinking taking down my two blogs (My third one is school related)
And meshing them into one.{lookbook.nu}
No need to separate my ideas and thoughts
From the fashion and pictures that inspire me, right?

I'll be in New York City tomorrow,
soaking up inspiration and planning my future life!
I don't know how posting is going to be until I "update" everything.

Finally. Finally. Finally. Saw 500 Days of Summer
And I absolutely adored it. It was just perfect.
Zooey Deschanel is amazing, and the fact she can make
Pornography adorable just shows how good she is.

Incase you're like my friends and don't know it
This movie is about a romantic guy and a cynical girl.
They do not end up together at the end
{This is NOT a love story}

But it won't leave you feeling upset or depressed (hardly)The quirkiness, the silliness, and the sweetness
Plus the reality of the relationship made this a great movie.
Definitely recommended, especially for Deschanel fans.
{Oh and trust me, you'll fall in love with Gordon-Lewitt}
Not to mention the kick-ass soundtrack throughout

With family, we make quite a sound
But let's not forget the thanks we owe
To those there for the high and low

today is the day to give thanks
it's been kind of heavy around here lately
my community's grieving and the feeling is quite sad
so i think it's important to reflect on the good today
and thank whomever you want for what we have.

So I am thankful for...

my parents- for always keeping me grounded
my sister- for being as weird and funny as me
my brother- for being you, even when I'm angry
my school friends- for being as weird and quirky
as I am (especially she who calls me Panda ;p)
my swimming friends- for making me a different person
and always being funny and loving
the blogosphere- you guys are so sweet and kind
and learning about everyone is so much fu
my friends and family in general because
you let me be me and love me for it

I watched Virgin Territory the other day out of curiosity.
It had Mischa Barton & Hayden Christiansen, and sounded funny.
So, I thought why not...
What I found was pretty much American Pie
In the medieval times, with pretty dress and villas.
It's not exactly an Oscar type movie (or at all),
but it does have a rather cute story line
passed all the sex comedy and jokes, etc.
{think a man in a nunnery...}
And Mischa looks absolutely beautiful,
While Hayden looks... well gorgeous.And of course the end scene is the best,
as it always is in romantic comedies =)
If you can deal with the sex jokes, it's a cute movie.

I hope everyone had a fun Halloween

This my last "childhood" one, and I'm glad I went out
The past two years were spent handing out candy,
So it was so much fun to be a kid again
I ran around in a 60's girl dress, barefoot.
Strangers stared, my ankles went sort of numb,
and I was drenched through and through.
In short, best Halloween ever.I don't have pictures from the actual night.

I was watching "Grey's Anatomy"
and noticed one of the Mercy-West doctors
was non other than my favorite Heroes guest star
Nora Zehetner
She's absolutely adorable and has a sort of sass to her acting
I remember loving her style in "Heroes"
And I watched Princess, a rather typical, average tv movie
To see her be a perfect human princess, complete with the dresses
{Think of Princess as a bad version of Enchanted}

And I'm happy to see she has the same adorable style in reality.
I hope she really hits it big soon, so we can see more of her.

{stupid college applications/lame financial aid}
but lately all I want to do is get dressed up
Marie Antoinette style, throw on a masque, slip into heels,
and dance until the sun peeks above the horizon.
I want to flirt with mysterious, handsome strangers,
eat and drink pure luxuries like macaroons and champagne
and not have a care in the world for only a night.
-sigh- too bad reality isn't quite as lovely as that,

So here are his top five photographer tips

Plus some of my favorite of his shots1) Make sure your shutter speed is above
1/[focal length (x crop factor)]

2) For close up portraits, keep a low depth of field
zoom as much as the conditions allow.3) Megapixels aren't everything.
A camera phone with 12 mp isn't better
than a DSLR with 10 mp

4) Rule of Thirds5) if you have the chance, shoot in RAW*.Favorite Camera? canon rebel XS

it is a HUGE pet peeve of mine

to see girls wear leggings as pants.
if you're 1 mm from having camel toe, don't wear them!
a lot of the girls in my school are huge tragedies:Marta complains of grunge going too far,
well let me assure you, grunge is least of our problems
i'm talking ugg overload, leggings done wrong, Hollister hoodies galore
-sigh- suburban high school is truly the pits of fashion
because these girls above, actually find this okay

well, anyway. onto brighter fashion
i tried out my polka dot tights today, as it was cooler out
& i've been trying to think of a way to wear them since last year!{shirt-target, jeans-DIY cutoffs, tights & boots-kohls}

we had an activity fair today,
hence why everyone's outside.

PPS incase you think i'm being stalker/mean about this

loose plaid button up + denim cutoffs + flats or sandals

i love this combination so, so, so much!
it's such an easy fix with so many variations.
flats & a patent purse & a belt dress it up
while gladiators, loose hair, & shades dress it down
easy and simply, for the those days
when it's kind of hot and kind of cold all at once

american eagle is probably the best, most inexpensive store
and it has some pleasant surprises along the way.

super tiring, but fun (just ignore the gnats!)
we threw apples, discussed apple baseball,
taste tested apples, and collected lots of yummy apples
and then went home and attempted to bake
which kind of failed, since none of use knew apple pie:
but it still tasted pretty yummy afterwards
and ricky had a microwave apple recipe:
1. peel & core apple
2. in hole put sugar
3. put a piece of butter & cinnamon on top
4. microwave for 5 minutes
oh and yes, we did get into a flour fight

i just watched little women a few hours ago

and i absolutely adored it.
it reminded me of the classic, sweet movies
that warmed the heart and made us smile
while bringing tears to our eyes, and "aws" of joy

but i have papers and books and shoes mostly.
i love my room though, it's my "haven."and while on the theme of beauty in clutter,

{friday finds}: the beautiful life

ok so not my usual ff feature,
but hey friday finds is a pretty open topic.
and i want to give justice to one of my new shows
The Beautiful LifeI'll give you the flaws first,
because apparently there are a ton:
-their ages are a tad too young
{sara's sixteen? yeah right! i'm older than that!}
-some of the lines delivered were slightly wooden
-there is no real wit or spice to the show--yet
-the character's aren't exactly fresh
{innocent blonde girl? fresh from the farm hottie?}
BUT there are a lot of pros to this show
-it's obvious focus on fashion and the modeling world
-it has sara paxton and mischa barton in it
-the british girl is funny as anything
-it's got that same glamorous feel of gossip girl
-it doesn't pretend to be witty or smart, etc
{ie, the writers obviously know they don't have "Veronica Mars" here}Over all, if you want a smart show, watch something else
If you want fun, fashion eye candy and pretty faces
And some designer appearances {ie Zac Posen}
And a modeling show without Tyra Banks bragging about herself
Come watch the Beautiful Life.

so i didn't actually look too much at vma style

i mean there's pretty low expectations with
and when i finally went to style.com to look at it
i was right.
the fashion was dismal to be optimistic.
but luckily, there were some pretty good choices.

lovely couplesleave it tory burch to represent the style of designers
and i like the look from fonzeworth netley,
though i'm pretty sure i don't know who he is.

singersi don't like taylor's dress because she's taylor
i do actually like it a lot.
and amerie looks gorgeous in this blue dress!

of course my favorite is alexa chung.
she doesn't look too dressed up or too flashy
just perfect.

sooo i'm really excited for this anna sui collection

because, well i'm a bit of a fan, and hello, target + me = LOVE
and of course me + target + gossip girl= PERFECTION
a dress has come out so far, an easy $60.00
and i've been scanning the web for some previews
some of the pieces leave me verryyy underwhelmed
and a little "huh? a little uhh pre-teen, much?"{too much print for me, too commercial... love the boots though}

but then others have me cheering for joy and drooling with lust
like, i die over the white dress with blue ribbon
blue & white= fave combo, and this screams blair

obviously my lusts outweigh my dislikes
and if i have to sneak my credit card on target to buy that dress
i will be a better thief than robin hood. or another famous robber!

i easily love the cool blazers, fitted trousers stuff
but i do have a bit of indie rebel in me
that prevents me from totally loving it.
i stumbled across this amazing ad for an Asian store
Hazzy's immediately enamored. good layering for the crisp fall
and lily donaldson looks so cool
and i would not mind posing around with those boys

i'm not normally i a jewelry kind of girl

i tend to lose rings, i don't wear earrings,
{infection type deal a couple of years ago}
bracelets get annoying when writing...
necklaces are pretty much it.
and i liked to keep my necklace constant.
butttt for my birthday, i received A LOT of jewelry.and so i figured out a way to organize it
a cute bulletin board from my sister like friend
decorated with pictures and necklaces.

and now i am off to bed
school + swimming + work=exhaustion.

today was my last first day of school

i was extremely pleased
it took me fifteen minutes to get dressed
and i didn't feel nervous or fidgety all day
it would have been quite a good first day
if my bookbag hadn't liftend my skirt
to reveal my underwear, unbeknownst to me.

no matter how much older we get,
we'll always have a bit of awkwardness!

i've always wanted to do an interview.
and i thought since i go on about my friends,

I like to make sure I feel strong and put together
When I lay my outfits for the next day out...
Now I'm kinda leaning on the bohemian/ hippie style

I tend to get majority of {my clothes} from Charlotte Russe.
speaking in a designer sense-
I LOVE DOLCE AND GABBANA, Oscar de la Renta, and ELIE SAAB.
They have the coolest designs
and they're form fitted clothes
are made for women's natural design and shape.

Beyonce-because she makes what she has work for her.
Leighton Meester- She always pushes the limits
and looks great in pretty much anything.
Halle Berry-She looks amazing in her 40s
and always looks chic and put together

so cleverly written, and so cleverly portrayed.

if i had to live in an era, it'd be this one.

Bruno is a Nazi's son, Schmuel is Jewish

Spent a incredibly fun day at the park yesterday with some friends from school. (Coincidentally they asked about this blog!)
It's strange, but my group of friends differs greatly from swimming and school. My swimming friends are fun, sarcastic, and verry dedicated athletes. My school friends are sarcastic, really smart (as in when we bicker, we use historical references. it's insane. and i always lose as my friend Stephen knows just about EVERYTHING history wise! and no one even really gets my literary ones), and into the whole indie deal. Let's put it this way. My swimming friends are Lil Wayne and my school friends are Regina Spektor.
But I love them both equally because they always bring out the best in me while tolerating the worst!
The highlight of the day HAD to be my friend Josh being tormented by eight-year-old children. Because you know he had a beard thing going on and so NOT twelve. (As you had to be between 5-12 to ride the slide) But we all passed because our faces were smooth and clean =)

Interesting story before I explain these pics. Do people in your life know about this blog? I've started kind of telling my friends and letting it slip in conversation, but otherwise most people don't know about it (also my friends don't know the actual address... or really care half the time). And my parents don't know, I can just see them going off about wanting to see it and complaining about how it could affect colleges, etc, etc. Anyway, these are my first pics not self took. My friend took them! Yay, they turn out so much better this way!

Went to see Billy Joel & Elton John the other night. It. Was. Amazing. Times a million. I can't even describe it. And, on top of that, REESE WITHERSPOON was in the same stadium as me. As in the gorgeous, famous, award winning actress that everyone knows.
I know more Billy Joel than I do Elton John, so I have to say I enjoyed him a bit more.... But they were both phenomenal. It was a lot of fun and thankfully I never got irritated or hot. Highly recommend them if anyone is thinking of it. It was my first concert ever and I'm so glad it was.

Thank you for being so a amazing lately. After your slew of Disney star covers, you started to make me worry. But now that you have another of my favorite actresses/singers (Taylor Momsen) after Emma Watson, my faith is restored. Please keep up the good work and do listen to the Katey who said "Enough with the Disney stars!...{Them} on your cover month after month is redundant..." She is completely right.
And also thank you for the amazing advertisements. I thoroughly enjoyed the new Juicy Couture ads and I was pleasantly surprised to see a small preview of Anna Sui's limited line for Target.And although I have already seen the CFDA award pictures, I did completely appreciate Dree Hemingway as your girl of the moment (she's so beautiful and cool!) and Jonathon Groff as your You've Got Male (Amazing! Wish I could see him in Spring Awakening), and you even got a good fashion shot of Demi Lovato (who usually looks Disney-dressed).
OH! And I cannot forget the small bit about Miranda Kerr and her new book Treasure Yourself. She's one of my favorite models, and she barely gets coverage like this.And of course the super cool spread "Happy Campers." It seemed like a Ecstasy ride, fashion-style. Was greatly impressed.

I'm home! Yay, fun time, obviously not very fashionable scene as everyone was in suits most of the time. I've got suit lingo down now. Never seen so many Blue Seventies or Lazers in my life! It's a shame (and totally unfair) that they're probably going to be banned soon....Now on to the name of this post: I've written Skins before, and now that I'm two series in, I can say with absolute certainty I am a total fan. It's absolutely raunchy and full of sexual innuendos and foul language, but there's a certain charm (plus the underlying, far more serious tone) to this show that makes it all kind of work together. Definitely recommended.
My favorite character though, stylistically, is definitely Effy Stonem. She was a minor character in the first part as the younger sister of one of the characters, but even then I thought her style was really cool. And now that she's a lead in this generation, I've fallen even more in love with it.
She's got the whole rebel/grunge chic thing down to an art, and I believe a lot of her pieces come from Topshop? (PS dear TopShop please expand in the States more, because I really, really wanna shop there.)

I shall be on the road again! Another week away from blogging (I'm going to have tons of posts to read when I get home!!) I have nationals for swimming this week, lots of packing to do. I would post cool pictures of the outfits I'm considering, but, well, I'm leaving tomorrow and the above picture is about as far as I've gotten! Instead I'll leave you all with my two new pairs of shoes from Charlotte Russe...

I don't know who this model is... It's from a spread from Allure, but she is so adorable! I wish I had her looks, she's got that perfect relaxed, beachy look. And this was just the pic that didn't survive, the other pictures are even lovelier!

Also... I'm not normally a fan of Lil Wayne, but somehow I really like this remix. Am I alone?!

I entered La Courtier's giveaway contest, and I thought I would make a little picture here along with the story for everyone who hasn't discovered her blog. You may (or most likely not) remember my story idea from a while ago. It's undergone quite a few changes since then, and in entering her contest, I got an idea for the book and thus my "petite novella" is a bit of an excerpt. Enjoy and be sure to check out her blog.

Audrey stood in the cluttered bedroom, unsure of what to do as Sid threw clothes around, searching for a proper outfit. “You look far too prep school right now,” Sid said, her British accent thick. “We need to toughen you up and grunge you down.”
“What?” Audrey looked uncertainly at her tan skirt and ruffled blouse.
“Your wanker down there is too busy playing video games to notice you right now,” Sid said, pulling out random articles of clothing and throwing them onto her bed. “We’ve got to shock him.” She spread the clothes out. “Here put this on.” Sid promptly left the room, leaving her to look at her new outfit with uncertainty.
Audrey ventured over to the bed and looked down at the clothes. She had never been one to wear anything but skirts and ruffles and flats, and yet here in front of her was so far out of her comfort zone, she was sure she’d look ridiculous. Those black skinny jeans were certainly not going to fit her or even look remotely attractive, and did that shirt have rips in it?
As though sensing her hesitance, Sid called through the door, “Just try it on already, yeah!”
“Well, it can’t really hurt any to just see,” Audrey muttered. She stepped out of her black flats, placing them carefully to the side. Then she slid out of her outfit and picked up the shirt. It was a plain, thin white tank, but there were tears and rips throughout the front. She put it on quickly and straightened out. Then she looked at the jewelry lying next to it, a thick, black necklace with a heavy cross at the end. After putting that on, she stared at the black jeans.
She wasn’t a pant person. Not at all. She owned maybe one pair. She hated how the felt on her. She sighed. Sid would somehow force her into them anyway. Audrey took the pants and slid them on, pulling them up slowly. Surprisingly they buttoned. She turned in the mirror to see what it all looked like together.
It looked…. good. She looked to the bed and found black, studded stilettos. Slipping them on (they were only half a size too big), she suddenly felt different. She didn’t feel like the preppy girlfriend anymore. She walked over to the bureau and pulled out her headband, shaking out her hair from the pins that held it back. She found some black liner and mascara and began lining her eyes a bit thickly.
By the time Sid was finally allowed back in the room, “the preppy Yank” was gone. She smiled with approval.
“Excellent.”

My new fedora-style hat. It's from Walmart (buries head in political shame), but in my defense I was in there with friends buying shirts to make for our swim team. I figured this fedora was a good starter as it was only seven bucks and if I lost it/ruined it by mistake, it wasn't a huge waste.

Currently Reading...Brave New World by Aldous Huxley & Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott
Expected to love Eight Cousins, as love Alcott's writing and that genre, but surprisingly intrigued by Brave New World. I was excepting to hate it (school book!), but it's really disturbingly interesting! I couldn't quite put it down.

Currently Singing Along to...
Like the new music? I've discovered some new favorites "Next in Line" was free on Itunes; Can't stop listening to "Body Control" and my mom was listening to Pat Benatar in the car one day, and I couldn't stop listening to the CD! Yay 80s Ooh and Marie Digby's new album, love her songs so much!

Just watched Bridget Jones's Diary last night. Favorite Chick Flick ever. Period. She's just too hilarious and Colin Firth is too adorable. Too bad he's older than my dad =(

Currently Thinking...
About my birthday party! It's the first one I've had in a while, called "Seventeen Candles." As I'm going to be 17 on the 17th! I'm excited and my friend Abby whose been at baking camp is going to make something delicious and decadent for it! I keep thinking of Blair's seventeenth party... hmmm Though nobody like Chuck Bass is coming =)

Currently Doing...
Testing out my scrapbooking skils and organizing my magazine pages collection. Quite a mess at the moment... PS Does anyone know any good advice about slashing a t-shirt. I really want to do one, but I kind of don't know how to start!

I would beg to differ, Miss Adams. If my senior class portrait looked like that, I'd be one happy camper, even more so if I knew I was going to look like this seventeen years later...Coincidentally I just got my Allure yesterday (after posting about Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day, too!) and Amy Adams graced the cover. Too bad they only had two photos of her spread. They should have done pages, fairy tale fashion is my number on favorite (Drew Barrymore and Vogue anyone?)
Have a nice weekend everyone, I shall be working and having a epic weekend with my friend Kate since we've barely hung out this year!
