"a champagne cocktail of a comedy"

I didn't watch it until it became free on HBO, but Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day is possibly the most underrated little romantic comedy of 2008. It will definitely please our fashion eye candy. The setting is the late thirties in London right on the verge of WWII and we follow Miss Pettigrew (Frances McDormand), a dirt poor, recently fired, middle aged woman, as she trickily becomes a social secretary for the flitty, but sweet up and coming actress Delysia (Amy Adams).
Of course the movie is fairly predictible in its happy ending, but I think that adds to its charm. Amy Adams is adorable as Delysia, a woman torn between three men, her ambitions and love, and Frances McDormand is completely lovable in her quick wit and good advice...

Oh yeah, did I mention there was a makeover?
Before
AfterDon't worry, Delysia wasn't the only one with romance. Miss P got hers too =)
Highly recommended for a quick (it's only 92 minutes), fun, mood lifting, eye candy movie. Wish I had seen it sooner!

PS
Amy Adams reminds me of Elie Saab, as he was the designer in Enchanted, and thus his couture shows. Most of the these are Spring o9, but the last one is Fall.

I saw Miss Pettigrew when it first came out as I have a bit of an obsession with anything set in the 20s/30s and couldn't believe it didn't get more attention - it was so perfect and gorgeous and funny, and had such an amazing (and beautiful!) cast! You've reminded me how much I want to get it on dvd and see it again now, thank you!

I love the costumes in the film, but the characters weren't very appealing to me...

Looks like a lovely movie! I love the middle dress in the couture, too.

This is the most glorious movie! I have read that book and it is one of my absolute favourites!! Delysia is my favourite character in both book and the movie. The clothing and the colours of everything oh and the interiors! To die for!
